Original enlistment on 3 Feb 1915, Milford was initially sent to Blackboy Hill as a member of No 7 Depot Company before becomning a member of the 6th reinforcement draft for the 10th Light Horse Regiment on 16 Apr 1915. Milford was returned to AUstralia in May 1915 on health grounds (hernia).
