Artillery training was restructured in September 1942 with most of the NSW units moving to Hume in Victoria and units were consolidated
From early 1943 the training of artillery reinforcements was centralised, with 2nd Artillery Training Regiment moving to Greta in NSW to join the Artillery Training Centre in April 1943. 2nd Australian Field Artillery Regiment was made up from former anti-tank training units, but the New Guinea campaign required very few artillery units and so a slow disbanding of artillery units occurred.
