General Information

The 2/8th Australian Special Hospital was raised at Enoggera in Queensland in August 1940, and left for the Middle East in September where they established themselves at Gaza Ridge in Palestine he following month, absorbing the 2nd Special Hospital. They remained here for the time they were in the Middle East providing prophylactic services , including outposts to each camp and leave centre. They formed the 2/14th Special Hospital in September 1941 for service in Syria, before leaving for Australia in January 1943. Following leave they reassembled in Sydney before moving north to Kangaroo Point in Brisbane in June.
