Brief History
The recently mobilised 66th Anti Aircraft Company RAE at Attadale was restructured in December 1941 as the 20th Defence & Employment Platoon. It was attached to HQ Western Command at Swan Barracks. In April the HQ expanded and became HQ 3rd Australian Corps, moving its HQ to Mt Lawley where the defence and employment platoon guarded and maintained the HQ. In October they were renamed 3rd Australian Corps Defence & Employment Platoon, continuing their role while the troops of the 3rd Corps' reduced, until in July 1944 they left for Wallgrove in NSW where the 3rd Australian Corps Defence & Employment Platoon was disbanded.
