Brief History
13th Field Ambulance was mobilised at Melville in December 1941 and underwent training before relocating to Chidlows in April 1942. It was responsible for 'Second Line' casualty evacuation from Regimental Aid Posts in operational Battalions.
In June they moved to Moora and to Dandaragan in August. while the 13th Brigade Group moved to the Northern Territory in February 1943, the 13th Field Ambulance did not, instead moving back to Chidlows in January with a detachment at Point Walter. In March they moved to Gingin and Bellevue in April, before leaving WA for Woodford in Queensland in May. On joining the 3rd Infantry Brigade they moved to Muntalunga in July. They were to service units in the general Townsville area until they were disbanded in May 1944.
