Remarks
Originally intended as a boom defence ship and anti-submarine training vessel in Sydney, Kookaburra was transferred to Darwin in April 1940 to serve as a boom defense and examination vessel. She remained in Darwin until the end of WW II, with the exception of a refit in Brisbane between September 1942 and February 1943.
On 15 Jan 1946, Kookaburra was placed in reserve,with only a brief period recommissioned for a voyage to Sydney in 1950. Following conversion to a "Special Duties Vessel", Kookaburra was recommissioned again on 11 May 1956 as a survey and general duties ship. Kookaburra was decommissioned for the final time on 3 Dec 1958. She was marked for disposal on 24 Jun 1965, sold in August 1965, and scuttled in March 1970.
