Brief History

Mobilised at Ingleburn in December 1941, it was initially known as the 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station. In August 1942 they relocated to Ipswich in Queensland before the Light Section moved to Woodford in September. The rest of the unit followed in October and they collectively serviced the base troops in southern Queensland. In May 1943 they were renamed as 102nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station and in October the Light Section moved to Cape York where they established at Skull Creek to service units of the 4th Division. In December the rest of the unit joined them, but with the reduction in the number of troops in the Torres Strait area, they were withdrawn to Narellan (NSW) for rest and retraining. In May 1945 they absorbed the 25th Hospital Laundry Unit, and moved to Madang in new Guinea to relieve 111 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, remaining here until the wars conclusion.
