Brief History
Raised in Mid 1941, it was mobilised at Claremont Showgrounds on 1 Dec 1941 to undertake local transport tasks between camps. In February 1942 it had detachments at, Naval Base, Northam, Melville, Ascot, Harvey, Rottnest Island, Narrogin, Wanneroo and Bushmead. By February 1943 it had eight sections, with 494 men and 443=2 horses and had additional detachments at Gingin, Marrinup (between Pinjarra and Dwellingup), West Midland, Booran (between Merredin and Burracoppin) and Springhill. In September 1943 they were re-organised and reduced to 350 men, and then due to reduced troop numbers in WA, to a HQ unit and two platoons with 163 men and 175 horses in February 1944. Detachments continued to be withdrawn during 1944 and the unit was disbanded in January 1945.
