Brief History

Established at Harvey in September 1940, it was manned by a detachment from 10th Australian Garrison Battalion. Designed to hold both German and Italian Internees that had been transferred from Rottnest Island. In January 1941 the full time Company from the 5th Australian Garrison Battalion replaced them and were redesignated 11th Internment Camp Guard Company, but shortly after were renamed 'M' Australian Garrison Company (Internment Camp).

With Japan's entry into the war, it was decided to move all internees to the eastern states, and in April 1942 the internment camp was closed and the site became the 3rd Australian Corps School.
