Remarks

LST-702 was laid down on 15 Apr 1944 at Jeffersonville, Indiana by the Jeffersonville Boat & Machine Co. She was launched on 22 May 1944 and commissioned on 19 Jun 1944.

During World War II, LST-702 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific theater and participated in the assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto in May and June 1945. She also carried Australian personnel from Morotai to Labuan.

Following the war, she performed occupation duty in the Far East and saw service in China until mid-April 1946. The ship returned to the United States and was decommissioned on 5 July 1946 and struck from the Navy list on 15 August the same year. On 23 Oct 1947, the tank landing ship was sold to Consolidated Builders, Inc.in Seattle, Washington State for scrapping.
