James married [[Blanche Anderson]] (nee Buckingham) in Kelmscott WA in 1906.  James and Blanche had 10 children Olga Jane, Donald James, Victor Ross, Edna Ethel, Rita Blanche, Gladys Eva, Robert Neil, Doreen Alma, Mavis Hilda and Kevin David.
