War Service

On 23 Jun 1944 Violet was taken on strength at the Claremont Recruit Reception Depot. Three days later she was sent to the 6th AWS Training Company at Guildford and on completion of her basic training on 24 Jul 1944 she was posted to the HQ Fremantle Coast Artillery. On 6 Sep 1944 her posting changed to the 802nd Anti Aircraft/Coast Artillery Battery.

Violet was AWOL from midnight 26 Feb 1945 until 9:30am on the following day for which she was fined 30/- and forfeited a day's pay. on 10 Apr 1945 she was transferred to the Anti Aircraft & Fortress Signals, Western Area. Violet had lost some of her uniforms, and was charged on 25 Jun 1945 with Losing by neglect her clothing for which she was reprimanded, and required to surrender coupons and pay the face value of the clothing lost - 8 shillings, 4 & a half pennies (83 cents).

On 29 Jun 1945 Violet was transferred to the 2nd Australian Signals Training Battalion (AWAS). On 7 Aug 1945 Violet was charged with 'Failing to appear at the place of parade appointed by her Commanding Officer'. She was found guilty and fined 10/- ($1). On 29 Apr 1946 she was transferred to 31st AWAS Barrack to prepare for discharge which occurred on 7 May 1946.
