Frank enlisted in the CMF on 12 Mar 1942 and was called up for full time duty on 23 Mar 1942 when he was posted to the [[7th Bomb Disposal Company]] at Ascot (WA). From 30 March until 26 May he attended the Engineers Training Depot at Northam camp. On his return to his unit he was classified as Trade Group II Carpenter. On 27 Aug 1942 he enlisted in the 2nd AIF with Army Number WX31710. Frank was appointed as a Lance Corporal on 2 Oct 1942. On 24 Feb 1943 Frank transferred to the [[7th Australian Army Troops Company]], and the same day he was detached to the [[9th Australian Bomb Disposal Section]] of the ''1st Australian Bomb Disposal Company'' until 1 Mar 1943. Pre War

During 1933 Frank had married Doris Bessie May Curtis locally. Doris died in Bentley on 14 May 1989 aged 78.
