Allan's medical examination at enlisted was conducted in York on 30 Nov 1943. However, within 9 days of enlisting he was admitted to the [[110th Australian Base Hospital]]. Released, he joined the 35th Australian Infantry Training Battalion on 31 jan 1944, and on 3 May 1944 he was charged with Losing by Neglect Regimental Equipment valued at 2/6d ($0.25). On 12 Jun 1944 he was admitted to [[104th Australian General Hospital]] at Bathurst with splinters in left hand, and was discharged on 19 Jun 1944. Evacuated to hospital again, this time with orchitis on 10 Aug 1944, he was released to the 103rd Australian Convalescent Depot on 31 Aug 1944. War Service

Allan's medical examination at enlisted was conducted in York on 30 Nov 1943. However, within 9 days of enlisting he was admitted to the 110th Australian Base Hospital. Released, he joined the 35th Australian Infantry Training Battalion on 31 jan 1944, and on 3 May 1944 he was charged with Losing by Neglect Regimental Equipment valued at 2/6d ($0.25). Penalty was a fine of 2/6d.


On 23 May 1944 he was admitted to the 103rd Australian Field Ambulance, and on 3 Jun 1944 he was transferred from 35 AITB to 21 AITB in New South Wales, arriving in Bathurst camp on 9 Jun 1944. On 12 Jun 1944 he was admitted to 104th Australian General Hospital at Bathurst with splinters in left hand, and was discharged on 19 Jun 1944. On 15 Sep 1944 he was discharged from the convalescent depot, and on 15 Sep 1944 he was admitted to the 116th Australian General Hospital, to participate in a "Malarial Experiment".
