Brief History

2 Platoon of 2 BIPOD was at Chermside having returned from Papua New Guinea in May 1944. In June it was re-organised as the 65th BIPOD Platoon, and in August it moved to Redcliffe to prepare for a role in the capture of Borneo. They moved around, in October to Chermside, in November to Moorooka and then to Redcliffe in January 1945. In March 1945 65 BIPOD Platoon moved to Morotai to work with the 1st Australian Base Sub Area until the end of the war.
