Owned by the White Star line and used on the Southampton to New York run until 1911 after which she serviced the Liverpool-New York route. When launched she was promoted as "the largest ship in the world"
She was the first liner to feature a swimming pool and Turkish bath. She could carry 2,825 passengers in three classes 425 x 1st, 500 x 2nd, and 1,900 x 3rd. Early in World War 1 she continued to provide normal passenger services between Liverpool and New York before being used as a troop ship, surviving without incident once the USA joined the war.
