Remarks

LST-129 was laid down on 1 Jul 1943 at Evansville, Ind., by the Missouri Valley Bridge & Iron Co.. She was launched on 8 Sep 1943; and commissioned on 23 October 1943. During World War 2, LST-129 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific theater and participated in the following operations:

  • Marianas operation
  • Capture and occupation of Saipan-June and July 1944
  • Tinian capture and occupation--July 1944
  • Western Caroline Islands operation
  • Capture and occupation of southern Palau Islands-September and October 1944

LST-129 was redesignated IX-198 on 5 Dec 1944 and was decommissioned on 20 January 1945. Destroyed as naval target on the 16th May 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on the 19th June 1946.
