War Service
Edith enlisted in the Australian Women's Army Service at Claremont on 27 Sep 1942 on a full time basis as a Trade Group I Waitress. On 12 Dec 1942 Edith was posted to the staff of the 6th AWS Training Company. Having completed 12 months service, she received a pay rise on 27 Sep 1943. Following a very brief time in the 31st AWAS Barrack Holding Platoon (3-14 Feb 1945), Edith transferred to the 7th Australian Advanced Ordnance Depot at Nungarin.
On 8 Aug 1946 Edith was admitted to the 71st Australian Camp Hospital, and on the same day forwarded to the 110th Australian Base Hospital. While in hospital her unit was disbanded and thus she was released on 5 Sep 1946 to the Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot, where she was discharged on 10 Sep 1946.
Post War
During 1946 Edith married WX14254 Trooper Lawrence Bosworth in the local area. Lawrence died on 22 Jul 1999 in Mandurah, aged 74.
