==Early Life==
Charles Samuel Bardwell-Clarke was born in Bengal, India in 1869.  His father was John Henry Clarke, a former engineer-cum-photographer.  His mother was Emma Shillard. 
==Marriage==
Charles married [[Sarah Bardwell-Clarke]] (nee Wheatley) in Ipswich Suffolk England. They had no children.

==Electoral Rolls==
According to our researchers Samuel had a photographic studio in London where he photographed King Edward V11.  He also worked and managed  Greenham & Evans Studio in 1914.  the studio became Lafayette Studio in 1914.  Returning to London in 1915 he spent time painting miniatures of British Army Officers. Returning he opened his own studio in the Bon Marche building. In 1924 he spent the entire year touring the US focusing on painting landscapes which he exhibited on his return to Perth.
He Lived on Bedfordale Road Armadale with his late wife [[Sarah Bardwell-Clarke]].

Charles died on 6 May 1942. He was buried at Kelmscott.
==Other Notes==
According to the History of Photography in Perth of 14 February 2015, Samuel must have arrived in Australia sometime between 1901 and 1910.
