Brief History
This unit was raised during December 1941 as a nucleus unit at Paddington in New South Wales. It expanded in April 1942 to become a 600 bed hospital that then moved to Kenmore in NSW. By January 1943 they had expanded to 1200 beds, including a psychiatric division. In May 1945, the 6th Hospital maintenance Platoon was attached and the hospital continued as a specialised psychiatric hospital after the war.
Six men and two women died while posted to this unit, all of illness contracted in Australia.
