War Service
16 year old Denzil enrolled with the 5 Wing ATC Cadets on 29 Apr 1942, before enlisting when he was 18 in the RAAF. He enlisted on 7 Jun 1944 at No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre, and was posted the same day to No. 5 Initial Training School RAAF at Clontarf to begin training as a member of aircrew. During his time with the unit he was detached to 110th Australian Base Hospital from 3 Jul until 2 Aug 1944.
On 20 Oct 1944 he was appointed Leading Aircraftman, and his next posting was to No. 1 Wireless Air Gunners School RAAF in Ballarat on 7 Dec 1944. His training continued when on 13 Jun 1945 he was posted to the Point Cook based No. 1 Signals School RAAF. However, with hostilities at an end, on 17 Sep 1945 he was posted to No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF to prepare for his discharge which occurred on 3 Oct 1945.
Post War
In 1948 Denzil married Shirley Choules (1931- 2012). Son Robin Frank Fletcher.
