Mother was Daphne Mary Stella Pound (nee Letts). Mervyn was educated at the Roleystone State School and the Junior Technical College in Perth. He had been a member of the Air Training Corps for 4 months before being called up (No 36934).
War Service
Mervyn was enlisted into the RAAF at the No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre which was in McNeil Chambers on 18 Aug 1944 and undertook basic training with the No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF at Pearce until 27 Sep 1944 when he transferred to the No. 4 Stores Depot RAAF.
