On 2 Jun 1937 Tasman enlisted in the Militia with Regimental No 244989, and served with the HQ Squadron of 10th Light Horse Regiment until his discharge on 6 Feb 1939. At that stage his nok was his moher (Mrs Mary Ellen Ewart). His enrolment form indicates that he had also previously served with the Militia's 28th Battalion and the 10th Light Horse Regiment from January 1921 until he moved to the North West (?).
